Arcane Chemicals offers Picramic Acid, also known as 2-amino-4,6-dinitrophenol, as a raw material for use in various formulations. The purity of Picramic Acid is assessed at 60+2% based on titration method and the moisture content is around 40% assuring longevity of storage. The Picramic Acid content is less than 0.5%. The color is orange. The main use of Picramic Acid is in the formulation of hair coloring when it is converted to Sodium Picramic, a non-reactive dye. Picramic Acid is also used to formulate henna to yield a deep rich red-brown color with long lasting properties. It is safe when used in the prescribed manner and in the prescribed percentage. It is recommended that products made using Picramic Acid should carry appropriate labels warning against ingestion and against getting it into the eyes. Picramic Acid can be explosive and it can be toxic.
