Smack dab in the heart of the "golden triangle" path sits Jodhpur, the Blue City. It's conveniently accessible from Jaipur, Udaipur, or Ajmer by bus or train. If you can't handle the distance, there is a domestic airport here with daily flights from Delhi. Personally, I chose to take the local bus from Ajmer to Jodhpur after visiting the holy city of Pushkar. Even though the ride was just around five hours long, I frequently wonder if the low cost is worthwhile when travelling locally, and for the best travel services visit Jodhpur Cab Service. In addition to being 150 rupees one way, it was uncomfortable, dusty, cramped, hot, and generally insane. The drivers might use some improvement, and if you're in the rear, be ready to fly if you hit a speed bump! Since buses are so much more convenient and trains are so expensive for AC carriages, I've given up on them. I also detest waitlists. Last-minute bus reservations are essential because I'm terrible at preparing ahead for travel. From here, you can travel to Udaipur, the charming city of lakes, or Jaiselmer, where you can go on a camel safari. For 450 rupees, I took a 5-hour government air-conditioned bus to Udaipur; it was definitely more comfortable than the dreary local bus.
